There are three full-time faculties and 14 attending physicians in our Emergency Department, working with various subspecialties to provide 7/24 high quality emergency care, including cardiopulmonary emergency, head and spinal injury, fracture, burn, high-risk neonate, snakebite, acute psychosis, allergy, intoxication, near-drowning, and sexual or domestic violence or intentional assaults.
There are sixty observation beds in our department and six resuscitation units for medical emergency, major trauma and one for critical pediatric patient. During these years, the percentage of admitting patients from Emergency department was more than 40% and the ratio of overstay (staying time is longer than 48 hours) is less than 1%.
In order to improve the pre-hospital care, the fire department in Tainan city keeps a partnership with our department, in term of training, education and quality assurance. The prehospital caregiver performance is under the medical direction by our staff.
In the 2007 national survey by the Department of Health, our quality of care for acute coronary syndrome, ischemic stroke emergency and major trauma were accredited as one of seven top level emergency centers in Taiwan.
Meanwhile, our department was designated to be the Regional Emergency Operational Center (REOC), National Disaster Medical Assistant Team (NDMAT) and chemical and hazardous material disaster response center. NDMAT has been deployed overseas, providing humanitarian actions and the disaster management. |
